Authorised HT Meters Distributors in India

Secure Meters is one of India’s most trusted names in high-tension metering, and Sun-AP Ecopower is an authorised distributor of their HT Meter range in India. We supply the complete Apex series – Apex 100 and Apex 150  for generation, transmission, substation, and bulk power transfer applications across Bangalore and pan-India.

What is an HT Meter?

An HT Meter (High Tension Meter) is a precision energy meter designed for use at high-voltage metering points typically above 11kV where electricity is measured at bulk power transfer points between generators, utilities, and large industrial consumers. These meters operate via Current Transformers (CT) and Potential Transformers (PT) since direct connection at high voltages is not feasible.

HT meters are revenue-grade instruments used at grid substations, captive power plants, industrial HT connections, wind and solar power plants, and open access metering points. They must meet Class 0.2S accuracy as per IS 14697 and IEC 62053-24 and comply with DLMS/COSEM open data exchange standards for utility integration.

Unlike LT energy meters, HT meters carry extremely high financial significance; every small accuracy deviation at a bulk metering point translates into significant revenue impact over time for both the utility and the consumer.

Where Are HT Meters Used?

  • Grid substations and transmission network metering points
  • Captive power plants and industrial HT connections
  • Wind power and solar power plant metering
  • ABT metering at inter-state and intra-state grid interchange points
  • Open access energy transactions
  • Bulk energy transfer measurement between utilities and large consumers
  • Distribution transformer metering

Why Accuracy Matters at HT Metering Points

At high-tension metering points, the volumes of energy being measured are extremely large. A metering error of even 0.1% at a 10 MW plant running 8,000 hours a year results in an error of 8,000 kWh which at commercial rates translates into significant financial impact for both the utility and the consumer. This is why HT meters are mandated to Class 0.2S accuracy and must be sealed, certified, and periodically tested by the utility before commissioning.

Working with an authorised distributor ensures that the meter supplied carries proper type test certificates, calibration documentation, and DISCOM approval all required before the meter can be commissioned at an HT metering point.

Why Purchase from Sun-AP Ecopower

Sun-AP Ecopower supplies genuine, warranty-backed Apex series HT meters with complete documentation type test certificates, calibration reports, and compliance datasheets required by utilities at the time of meter sealing. Our team assists with meter selection based on your CT/PT ratio, voltage class, communication requirement, and DISCOM specification.

We are also one of India’s trusted solar products distributors, supplying metering solutions for solar and wind power plants alongside a complete range of solar panels, inverters, and energy management products.

FAQ’s

What is the difference between an HT meter and an LT meter?
An HT meter is used at high-voltage metering points (11kV and above) via CT/PT, and is designed for bulk energy transfer with Class 0.2S accuracy. An LT meter is used at low-tension service connections for standard billing at Class 0.5 or Class 1 accuracy.
What accuracy class is required for HT metering in India?
HT metering in India requires Class 0.2S accuracy for active energy and reactive energy as per IS 14697 and IEC 62053-24 standards.
What is ABT metering and why is it used?
ABT stands for Availability Based Tariff. ABT meters are used at grid interchange points to measure energy in multiple quadrants and time blocks, helping maintain grid frequency discipline and accurate revenue settlement between generators and utilities. Secure Meters designed the first ABT meter in India.
Can HT meters be used for solar and wind power plant metering?
Yes. Apex series HT meters are widely used at the interconnection points of solar and wind power plants for generation metering, export measurement, and ABT compliance.
Does Sun-AP Ecopower supply DISCOM-approved HT meters?
Yes. We supply Apex series meters that are type-tested, certified, and approved by state DISCOMs across India. Contact us at +91 88844 90100 for availability and project quotations.
